I'm investigating the potential for rapid evolution in an introduced population of Atlantic salmon in the Rocky River system on the Avalon Peninsula of Newfoundland. I conducted reciprocal transplants between Rocky River and it's donor system, Little Salmonier River in the summer of 2014. I also am analyzing and comparing genome-wide single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) arrays, restriction site associated DNA (RAD) sequences, and microsatellite sequences for fish from both locations to determine the genomic basis for rapid evolution in the system ~30 years post-introduction.

When I'm not traipsing through rivers after fish, you can usually find me playing rugby, planning my next travel adventure, trying out new teas, or deciding which movie to watch next.
